After a first step forward in politics with my candidacy for the General elections for the Senate, receiving more than 2,000 votes of confidence from the citizens of Lanzarote, and being the first time that I faced electoral elections, I am proposed to continue with the Somos Lanzarote project, now in electoral alliance with Nueva Canarias for the municipal and regional elections as head of the list for the municipality of Yaiza.
In the 39 years that I have, the best memories I have are those of childhood, like almost everyone else. Since I was a kid running through the streets of the town of Playa Blanca, the town of my grandmothers and grandfathers and therefore the town of my parents. I still remember my grandfather Eugenio El Gomero from the beach of the town, watching him come from Punta Limones with buckets full of bicudas, which he scaled on the shore of the steps, while my grandmother Juana waited for him at home, near the church. I also remember those summer nights in the house of Papagayo (current beach bar) with my cousins, sleeping with mattresses on the floor and listening to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore of the beach.
I have always considered myself from "the other side", my paternal grandparents and my father from Playa Blanca, Caraballos, my maternal grandparents and my mother from Maciot and Uga, Medinas. All my family, uncles, cousins, come from the South and that is why for me the municipality of Yaiza is in my heart.
For me, doing politics, in short, is fighting to achieve improvements for a society and that has always been my work philosophy. My first fight was to get a second medicalized ambulance for the south of the island, which thanks to the support of many people, the pressure in the media, and the thousands of signatures we achieved, is now a reality based in the Playa Blanca clinic.
I want to continue with the Somos Lanzarote project and now with Nueva Canarias, I want to continue contributing my fighting philosophy, my way of working, my way of being, and what better way to do it than to recover the value that a municipality like Yaiza deserves. Many people, like me, have been able to see from a young age what the municipality was and what it has become, sadly the municipality.
It seems incredible but to this day, there are still barracks in schools, Yaiza still does not have a health center in good condition, there are no civic centers, libraries, sports spaces in good condition, a municipal nursery in Playa Blanca where to reconcile family life with work, etc.
To recover Yaiza I have a team of trusted people, committed people from the south, eager to work, sharing illusions and youth, as well as great values. People like Yrina, Oliver, Laura, etc...
Yaiza does not deserve more headlines of corruption, accusations, illegal licenses, business favors or being the protagonist in Equipo de Investigación de la Sexta, because Yaiza is more than that, Yaiza is salt, it is a volcano, it is the house of Berrugo, it is sand, it is its sea, Yaiza is its people, and on May 26, Yaiza we are going to recover you.
