No one is unaware that Spain is one of the countries most affected by the effects of the pandemic. The economic and social reality that our society is going through is very worrying and, therefore, needs fair budgets that reflect the needs of citizens. Until a week ago, the Government had to work with the accounts prepared by Cristóbal Montoro in 2018, based on cuts to our welfare state, precarious employment and far from the reality that Spain is experiencing today.
A few days ago, the Congress of Deputies approved the most social budgets in the history of our country. Those who shout and predict the catastrophism of these accounts are the same ones who in their day decided to cut back on services as essential and basic as healthcare.
The majority of parties have understood the situation by putting the needs of the people before any partisan interest. The new budgets prepared by the Government of our country multiply the investment in healthcare by ten, a fundamental aspect to face this type of pandemic with the necessary resources.
Education is another aspect where the item is significantly improved. In addition to strengthening public education with the new Celaá Law, the increase for the ministry reaches 139%. Social spending has increased by 70% and 59% for social policies and child poverty, adjusting to the needs of citizens to combat the economic and social consequences of the pandemic.
Combating gender violence is another of the pillars of the socialist group's daily commitment. To this end, 180 million have been allocated, 21 more than in 2020. This scourge is still very present in our society and it is necessary to provide the Ministry with resources in order to contain macho terrorism and save more lives.
The Canary Islands will receive around seven billion euros, which will be used, among other things, to promote youth employment, improve care for dependent people and advance the ecological transition.
In short, Spain and its citizens will see how these accounts will improve our welfare state, adjusting to our social reality. Of course, without leaving anyone behind, our country faces one of the most complicated challenges, but it will do so by putting the needs of the people first. The budgets of the cuts are already history.
