And they lived happily ever after, I have painted the avenue!

September 30 2018 (20:20 WEST)

The socialist mayor of Arrecife has come up with the idea of coloring the Maritime Avenue in order to increase the number of pedestrians in the area and for vehicles to travel at a lower speed, visually breaking the idiosyncrasy and uniqueness of our enviable marina. A complete occurrence that can only come from a mayor who, instead of complying with plenary agreements that have decided by a majority that the Maritime Avenue has to be opened to traffic, prefers to take cans of colored paint and color an avenue that is crying out for revitalization, and above all common sense, something that the PSOE in Arrecife lacks. Common sense and word is what a PSOE lacks that has not even been able to comply with its consultation with the citizens in whose name they say they act when they make decisions unilaterally.

The works on the Maritime Avenue had an end, and that end was to revitalize that area from a commercial point of view since the European subsidy established that the funds destined to Open Commercial Areas had an objective, to reinforce and promote commercial areas. In the case of Arrecife, the opposite has happened, they have destroyed the commerce that was on the Maritime Avenue and the surrounding streets, such as Canalejas Street, have suffered the collateral damage of the closure of the avenue and, in short, all the commerce of Arrecife, because there is no doubt that the Maritime Avenue together with the medular road make a municipal ring.

The PSOE has shown that the only colors it knows are black and white, like its daily management in the Arrecife City Council, and they can never imagine creating a city of colors, optimistic, cheerful, dynamic and enterprising. no matter how much they now choose to paint circles and colored stripes all over the avenue.

In the Popular Group we are clear about what colors Arrecife needs to make it a city of the future for the enjoyment of all and we have the key to boost Arrecife, but we cannot talk about a city for all when today we have the main artery closed to traffic.

We cannot start either the house by the roof, or sell the milk before buying the cow, because Arrecife has suffered for a long time this type of policies that have led the city to what it is today, a city without projection, without direction and without a clear leadership that drives the Arrecife of the present and reconvert it into a city of the future.

Neither Arrecife gets back on its feet by painting stripes and colors, nor by having the PSOE piloting the city, yes, with the support of Ciudadanos. It will get back on its feet when a capable and qualified government group comes along to lay the foundations for an Arrecife that is crying out for a change in public management.
