I am not a monarchist.
But I respect the institutions above my own beliefs.
This is the first thing I would like to emphasize.
I might be a monarchist if the monarchy had been a democratic choice after a referendum. But imposing a crown in a system whose foundation and base is the sovereignty of the people, clashes quite a bit with common sense and the nature of the democratic system itself. I might also have been a monarchist if the Emeritus had had more merits. And I would have seen exemplary behavior in the representation.
And there is something I can't stand, and that is imposition without arguments. Those "free thinkers" who impose their criteria by the fact of "being the historical and always thought" clashes head-on, precisely, with free thought and the freedom of it.
I keep hearing that today is a day of cohesion and respect for diversity and the future...
And I must say that personally, I think the Princess of Asturias is a well-prepared woman and I like her. And it is also true that she gives an image of renewal of the Monarchy.
This country is a parliamentary monarchy, possibly imposed. But that is its nature. And if we do not respect the institutions as they are, it will not be possible to change them, when appropriate.
Hopefully soon.
I also believe that respect for the Spanish Constitution should be indisputable, as that is the foundation of a state of law.
That said... I leave here a curious comparison:
Charles III's Necklace: How many scholarships to study?, how many improvements for public transport and for healthcare?
Many will think that there is precisely money for all items, including representation, and possibly it would have been so before.
But at present... The facts do not say the same.
VIVA common sense! And may radicalisms without arguments die.
