The citizens of Lanzarote have reiterated their confidence in the Socialist Party with broad support that corroborates that ours is a progressive society and that the steps taken in these previous months have been what was expected of our political formation.
As a representative of the province of Las Palmas in the Congress of Deputies, I want to thank all those people who, despite the electoral repetition, have returned to the polls with the conviction that only democratic action will save us from lack of solidarity and fear of the future.
My warmest thanks also to all the colleagues of the PSOE who have interrupted their daily lives again to put them at the service of the campaign and the dissemination of the message of hope that we wanted to take to the last corner of Lanzarote.
As a socialist, feminist and defender of the environment, equality and social justice, I cannot help but express concern about the rise of the forces of the extreme right, which in the Canary Islands have obtained a representation never known before.
Facing this new political reality requires us to start working now to negotiate a progressive government headed by the PSOE that allows our country to move forward on its own paths of this century. In the Canary Islands we did it and in Spain we will do it. The blockades and tensions experienced in recent months have been the worst breeding ground for the extreme right and it is our responsibility to react to stop the xenophobia, machismo, lack of solidarity and fear that permeate their message.
While this is happening, thank you again. We will not disappoint you.
