The Department of Festivities of Arrecife has opened since this Monday, April 20, the period for citizens to choose the allegory of the Arrecife Carnival 2027, in a new step towards the participatory construction of one of the most emblematic celebrations of the municipality.

The voting period will remain active until 23:59 on Wednesday, May 6, and interested individuals will be able to cast their vote through the following link:  https://participacion.arrecife.es/index.php/486834. The final result will be announced on May 7.

This process culminates a first phase initiated last March 25, when the Fiestas area opened the period for the carnival groups to present their allegory proposals. It is an initiative that, since its implementation, has represented a novel and participatory way of building the identity of the festivities, by directly involving the collectives in the definition of the theme.

The deadline for the submission of proposals closed last April 13, registering a total of eight initiatives, of which finally six have been selected, after discarding two for coinciding or being very similar to allegories from previous years, in line with avoiding repetitions and continuing to bet on originality.

The allegories among which the citizenry will be able to choose reflect the imagination and commitment of the participating groups. In this new edition, the proposed themes are "One Thousand and One Nights", "Marine World", "Magical Creatures. Enchanted Universe", "Sailor Carnival", "Steampunk Atlantis. The Copper Reef" and "Realms of the Fairies". All of them open a wide range of creative possibilities for the development of the 2027 Carnival.

The deputy mayor and Councillor for Festivities has wanted to convey a special thanks to each and every one of the carnival groups who have worked on the elaboration of their proposals, highlighting, once again, the fundamental role they play in the development and growth of these festivities.

Echedey Eugenio, has highlighted the relevance of this participatory process, emphasizing that “the Arrecife Carnival is a celebration that is built among everyone, and that is why it is so important that citizens get involved from the beginning, being part of decisions as significant as the choice of its allegory”.

Likewise, he has wanted to highlight the role of the groups, pointing out that “with this initiative we give a direct voice to the groups that live the carnival throughout the year, making them participate in the definition of the theme and enriching the final result”.

Eugenio has invited neighbors to actively participate in the vote, stating that “the greater the involvement, the more representative the chosen allegory will be. Carnival belongs to everyone, and together we must continue to make it grow and evolve”.
