The Yaiza City Council makes the La Degollada Picnic Area available for citizen use and enjoyment after the execution of the municipal project that modernized and implemented new facilities in this accessible and fenced recreation area of 12,000 cubic meters, which we find on the right side of the road going up from the town of Yaiza to La Degollada.
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, calls on the population “to take care of this meeting point where our families, associations and groups can spend leisure time in a spacious, comfortable and quiet environment. The project involved an investment of 420,000 euros co-financed by the Municipal Cooperation Plan of the Cabildo de Lanzarote”.
The recent actions, explains the Councilor for Parks and Gardens of Yaiza, Rubén Arca, “include concrete pavement in the five barbecue areas, pedestrian paths and accessibility works, renovation of the grills that are now liftable, implementation of a new adapted playground, Canarian ball court, perimeter closure of the picnic area in harmony with its surroundings, construction of two bathrooms and installation of a sink”.
The execution of this project is added to other previous actions carried out by Yaiza such as improvement works on the accesses, installation of solar streetlights and pergolas for shade, in addition to a tree planting campaign.
The picnic area has maintenance staff throughout the week and security cameras with the municipal forecast to carry out a free use pilot test during these first three months while the operating ordinance is approved that will determine fees and deposit for the coverage of possible damages, without Yaiza ruling out the management of the picnic area through the concession formula.
