The Yaiza City Council has informed the population that all the events of the Carnival of Las Breñas, scheduled for this weekend, have been postponed due to the passage of storm Therese, which forecasts the arrival of rain, swell, wind, storms and floods on the island.
The southern council has rescheduled the carnival events for Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, due to the bad weather forecast for this March 20 and 21.
Likewise, Yaiza has decreed the suspension of all recreational, sports and cultural activities that may be held in the municipality outdoors. This suspension will take effect from 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday, March 18, except for federated competitions.
Finally, the City Council has recommended heeding the official pre-alert and alert declarations for rain, wind, storms or adverse coastal phenomena and all the recommendations made by the different public administrations in favor of citizen safety.
This decision adds to that of the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium, which has activated the pre-emergency mode and has recommended suspending outdoor extracurricular activities throughout the island.
