STV Gestión S.L. began cleaning municipal facilities in Yaiza this Wednesday after the City Council presided over by Óscar Noda finalized the bidding process, awarding the provision of the service for 894,000 euros for two years, extendable for two more years. The company is obliged to clean cultural centers, public restrooms, the Playa Blanca library and the municipal gym, among other facilities, with its own personnel and resources.

In the launch of the service, 12 workers are taking on the responsibility of the assignment, all residents of the municipality seeking employment, according to Carmen María del Águila, representative of the contractor, at the presentation meeting of the external personnel held this Wednesday first thing in the morning at the Camel Museum, where Mayor Óscar Noda and councilors Rubén Arca and Águeda Cedrés gave a cordial welcome to the staff.

Arca, councilor responsible for the Cleaning and Maintenance of Public Buildings areas of Yaiza, details that the contract includes cleaning the restrooms of the Bus Station, opening and closing the restrooms of the Playa Blanca town court, restrooms of the Uga Picnic Area, restrooms of the La Alameda Square in Yaiza, public restrooms in the center of Playa Blanca and restrooms of the El Aulagar and San Marcial de Rubicón sports courts in Playa Blanca.

“The objective is to optimize the service so that users, who in this case are both municipal workers and residents who visit and use public facilities, have cleaner and more comfortable spaces at their disposal,” says Rubén Arca.

Garbage collection and other services

On the other hand, Óscar Noda points out that “we are simultaneously working on the feasibility reports to put out to tender the new municipal solid waste collection service and the file to tender the cleaning and maintenance of gardens and cleaning of public schools. The municipality has grown and we do not have enough personnel to cover all work fronts.”

Regarding garbage collection, Yaiza awarded the emergency service to the company Valoriza for one year last April while finalizing the new tender after dispensing with the "deficient service offered by Urbaser".
