Yaiza defends that the awarding of the stalls is done in order of entry

Daniel Medina, Councilor for Festivities, explained in 'Buenos días, Lanzarote' that "it has never been done by lottery, but the regulations say that it has to be by order of entry, so the lottery comes later when the positions are already awarded"

Daniel Medina, Councilor for Festivities of the Yaiza City Council, was this Tuesday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero to answer some questions, including the complaint made to La Voz by a resident of the municipality regarding the way the places for the stalls are awarded at the festivals.

"I think this comes about because when someone doesn't get their turn, they get a little angry because I think Yaiza does it in a simple way for everyone," he said. In this sense, he explained that "we announce a period of time for applications and define the measurements of the stalls, and it is announced days before on the city council's website, it is not something that is done secretly, but it is announced beforehand so that people can submit their applications."

In addition, he pointed out that "the municipal ordinance says that the awards are made in order of entry and I have carried it out as another colleague did, nothing has changed, the only thing that is different is that those who have entered get the positions because I don't juggle." In relation to this, he pointed out that "perhaps I have been harsh on that and that is why some news comes out", in reference to the complaint of a neighbor who published La Voz.

Likewise, the councilor detailed that "it has never been done by lottery, but if the regulations say that it has to be by order of entry, that is how it will be done, the lottery comes later when the positions are already awarded." "If there are six positions, I am not going to tell each person where they have to put themselves, but among those positions, those who have been awarded are called and it is raffled to know which one each one will occupy," he continued.

On the other hand, in relation to the neighbor's complaint that "it is already a coincidence that the family of one of the advisors always enters", Medina explained that "his family has always done it like any other son of a neighbor and, as for the councilor who has entered, he is released at 50%, so he can have another economic activity." He also revealed that "these two families applied for a position in the stalls of Las Breñas and Femés but did not enter."

The councilor concluded by offering to show the records of the applications to all those neighbors who want to so that they can see the order of entry.
