The Uga Market has been the object this past week of several municipal actions, among which are the supply and installation of five air conditioning units for the different exhibition and sales areas and building maintenance work. The southern plaza is open to the public Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering zero-kilometer products and handcrafted goods.
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, reports that "we are investing in air conditioning to offer greater comfort to vendors and consumers, and also in response to the suggestion of the stall managers who requested more favorable temperature conditions to help preserve non-refrigerated products."
The Uga Market sells seasonal fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, artisanal bread, homemade sweets, jams, infusions, and crafts, among other products. Consumer service is provided by Carnicería Dak, Delicias Rosi, Mercado Josefina, La Despensa de Vero y Pedro, Mermeladas Lala, Arte Milo y Paolo, and Quesos Yolanda Bravo.
The Uga Market is a peaceful and family-friendly meeting point that also organizes dynamic activities such as those planned for the weekend of Saturday, November 22, and Sunday, November 23, days already set in the Christmas season. The Councilor for the Primary Sector of Yaiza, Silvia Santana, encourages the people of Lanzarote to consult the complete program and schedules in the municipal agenda. Storytelling, parades, musical performances, and entertainment by children's characters are organized.
