The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has requested that Puertos Canarios detail the actions it has taken to enable the border control necessary for the reception of international cruises in Playa Blanca. In addition to his formal request to the public business entity, which depends on the Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands, Noda has also requested an urgent meeting of the Advisory Council of Puertos Canarios.

In the same document, Óscar Noda has demanded information about the current situation of the cruise stopover planned for November at the port of Playa Blanca, and if applicable, the specific reasons that could prevent its docking. “Last December, I asked the Advisory Council about tug, mooring, and pilotage services, as well as security and immigration controls, understanding that all of them are essential for cruise ship docking. The prolonged silence and lack of information and communication with the City Council concern me.”

Following this "silence," the mayor of Yaiza asks Puertos Canarios to clarify whether the entity is aware that shipping companies have been informed that certain cruises can only operate in the port of Arrecife and, if so, who made such communication, by what means, and what its content was.

The leader of Yaiza also demands information about the obligations related to European financing that allowed the expansion of the southern port and "whether or not there is any risk of fund reimbursement as a consequence of the current conditions of use of the infrastructure."

Finally, Óscar Noda informs the public that his letter also requests information on the actions taken by Puertos Canarios to promote cruise activity in Playa Blanca and the coordination maintained for this purpose with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, or the Lanzarote External Promotion and Tourism Society.
