The Yaiza City Council published this past Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas the call for grants for Municipal Interest Initiation Sports Schools, season 2024 - 2025, for an amount of 130,000 euros, this is a specific line of aid to promote the learning and practice of sports among children and also facilitate the reconciliation of school activities with the use of leisure time.

For the granting of these subsidies, the Administration evaluates the number of children and registered athletes who regularly participate in the sports activity, the qualifications of the coaches or instructors, the consideration of native sports such as Canarian wrestling and Latin sailing, and high-cost sports disciplines.
The Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, insists “on the training of coaches and other quality criteria to guarantee the learning and sports and personal development of our young athletes.”
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, explains that “we have other aid specifically aimed at individual sports and sporting events that promote sports and constitute a point of interest for the tourist promotion of the municipality and our local economy.”
