Yaiza is moving forward with the conditioning and improvement works in the Papagayo Camping Area, a project promoted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the town hall, which includes the arrangement of the accesses to this area of the southern coast.

The Minister of the Environment, Samuel Martín, together with the Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for the Mobile Park, Rubén Arca, have visited the area to verify, on site, the demands of the users and the necessary maintenance work in toilets, showers, generator set, laundries and other facilities.

Samuel Martín points out that "from the first Island Institution and in collaboration with the Yaiza City Council we are working on important improvements such as the installation of renewable energies, new water points, shade, signage and many other actions that add to those already executed as was the change of the carpentry of the accesses to the Camping Area”.

Since July 5, the opening date of this area, there has been a large influx of campers from Lanzarote, the Canary Islands and from outside our territory, highlighting this place as unique in the world since it is located within the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches. The counselor points out that, currently, the occupation is around 30%, although in August it is expected to reach 100%.

For his part, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, confirms that this coming Monday work will begin to condition the access road to the beaches and the Camping Area, with a total area of 30,000 square meters. “We join forces with the Cabildo to improve the dirt roads that lead to the camping area and the beaches of the Los Ajaches Natural Monument, one of the most visited places in Lanzarote throughout the year, especially in summer when traffic increases. wheeled. We take advantage of the same arid material from the road, its irrigation and compaction for the conditioning of the rolling surface”, details Óscar Noda.

Likewise, the town hall is also in charge of waste collection. In this sense, both the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the southern Consistory call on visitors and campers to avoid throwing or leaving garbage in this emblematic natural space.

It should be remembered that the Papagayo Camping Area has 236 plots and has indoor and outdoor showers, sinks, water supply connections, 24-hour surveillance service, barbecue areas, a state-of-the-art treatment plant, a fire-fighting system and photovoltaic panels that allow users to have electric light in common areas 24 hours a day.
