The Ayuntamiento de Tías has presented this Thursday the Gran Gala Mujeres con Huella on the occasion of the celebration of the Día Internacional de la Mujer 2026. The event will take place on March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Theater. It will be a night of sorority, emotion, and celebration of female leadership with the recognition of the island's longest-serving police officer and outstanding female athletes from the municipality.

Starring the night will be Censa Martín Benasco, local police officer of Tías for 38 years; Yaiza García González, player of CD Magec Tías and a benchmark for women's basketball in Lanzarote; Fayna Pérez García, player and coach of the Puerto del Carmen handball club; María José García Cardona, Brazilian jiu jitsu athlete and IBJJF European champion in Kimono modality; and the members of the Neurolimpiadas de Tías team, winners of the first and third prize of Canarias.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, highlights that “the Women with a Mark Gala is an essential event to publicly recognize women who have blazed a trail and who, with their daily effort, have contributed to building a more just, more diverse, and stronger municipality”.

From the City Council, it is wanted to highlight exemplary careers in areas as important as security, sport, and self-improvement, because they are real role models for the new generations.

The first deputy mayor and Councilor for Equality, Nicolás Saavedra, highlights for his part that “this gala is not only an act of recognition, but also a tool for awareness and visibility of female talent. With Mujeres con Huella we highlight stories of perseverance, leadership and overcoming that inspire all society and reinforce the fundamental role of women in the social and sports development of the municipality.”

The Mujeres con Huella gala will feature the presentation and special performance by Yanely Hernández, a humor and communication professional who will bring closeness, sensitivity, and fun to a very special night. Also performing will be the musicians José Vicente Pérez and Adrián Niz on timple and guitar with a fusion of styles.

For Saturday, March 7, a participatory and coexistence day called “Walking together, not one step back” is planned, with the meeting point at 10:30 a.m. at the Tegoyo Hostel to carry out a light route, shared healthy breakfast and laughter therapy workshop.
