The Insular Directorate of the General Administration of the State in Lanzarote has launched a new awareness campaign against gender violence, which will travel the island via the 03 line of IntercityBus, connecting Costa Teguise, Arrecife, Playa Honda, and Puerto del Carmen.
Under the slogan “We Want Ourselves Alive,” this initiative seeks to raise awareness and mobilize society against sexist violence, using mobile advertising as a tool for direct reach to disseminate messages of prevention, respect, and solidarity.
The campaign, funded by European Funds aimed at combating gender-based violence and developed in collaboration with IntercityBus, reinforces the institutional commitment to equality and the eradication of sexist violence in all areas of society.
The campaign's main image depicts a woman's body formed by diverse people rising up against sexist violence, accompanied by three intertwined hands symbolizing commitment to support, protection, and care for victims.
Additionally, the campaign includes useful and accessible information on the resources available for the care of victims of gender-based violence:
• Telephone 016 – Assistance for all forms of violence against women.
• Email: [email protected]
• WhatsApp Channel: 600 000 016
“We want to take this message to every corner of the island. The fight against gender violence involves all of us, and public transport is an ideal space to reach a large part of the citizenry,” highlighted Pedro Viera, insular director of the General Administration of the State in Lanzarote.
For her part, Olga Betancor, head of the Gender Violence Unit, emphasized that "the constant presence of prevention messages contributes to raising awareness, educating, and breaking the silence that still surrounds many victims. We want to remember that sexist violence is not a private matter, but a social problem that we must all eradicate together."
