The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, have met with representatives of the cleaning concessionaire company Urbaser S.A. to discuss "each of the breaches of the contract" that have led to the opening of different files and the imposition of different sanctions.

The Arrecife consistory has highlighted "the lack of maintenance or misuse of machinery and municipal facilities transferred to the service; the lack of cleaning and maintenance of containers; and deficiencies in the garbage collection service, which has caused overflow in different parts of the city, are part of a whole list of infractions that Urbaser is now ready to correct", according to municipal authorities.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, is aware of the demands of workers and residents. "We all want, also from the Government group, the city to have public services accordingly. Cleaning is among our priorities," De León pointed out.

“I am pleased to share with the citizens that as a result of this meeting with the workers and the concessionaire company, we see progress in Arrecife”, remarked the first mayor.

For his part, the capital's head of Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, recalled that the latest sanctioning files that have been opened to the company amount to 348,000 euros and insists that "we are not going to allow a service that is vital for the health and well-being of all the people who live in Arrecife, not to be provided with all the guarantees.”

Likewise, Lemes pointed out that the company has also made a commitment to strengthen the service for collecting furniture in the future. What for the City Council is "one of the great concerns of the Department of Cleaning".

“Every day we see furniture thrown anywhere. It is clear that the company must fulfill its commitment, but we also have to end the uncivil behavior of some people who do not know what it means to live in community and do not respect”, asserted the mayor.
