The municipal party Unidos por Yaiza (UPY) denounces through its spokesperson, Daniel Medina, the “passivity” of the government group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with a problem that "both Coalición Canaria and Partido Popular, government partners in the First Island Corporation, promised to solve immediately." “One of the first visits with a vest from the president and vice president was to the road where the sinkhole is near Los Hervideros and there they promised a quick and effective solution, but eight months of mandate have already passed and the road remains closed, prolonging the economic damage for the town of El Golfo, the municipality of Yaiza and the island in general, whose residents and tourists remain condemned to not enjoy one of the most desired scenic routes.”
Daniel Medina criticizes that "no political party has dared to refute Oswaldo Betancort's populism, even though in the electoral campaign, some and others said they had the magic wand to solve the problem.” Medina refreshes the memory, pointing out that “the desire for protagonism at the expense of the sinkhole was so great that even the white label of Coalición Canaria (YAS) wrote the already famous and giant “socabón” with B in its electoral propaganda."
The UPY spokesperson and councilor of Yaiza assures that “from the Cabildo they only told us that they had a project almost ready to execute and we do not know the action planning while the town of El Golfo continues without its main access road. That is the management that Mr. President boasts so much about in the Cabildo plenary sessions where he barely speaks."
