The General Union of Workers (UGT) union of the Yaiza City Council has denounced the "anti-union attitude" of the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, "towards his public employees and their union representatives." Thus, in a press release published on the morning of this Tuesday, they have highlighted that his attitude shows a "worrying lack of negotiating capacity and irresponsible behavior."
The UGT union representatives in the Yaiza City Council have publicly denounced that "for more than three months" they have requested "the constitution and convocation of the General Negotiation Table" in the Yaiza City Council, and that they have not received "any response" from the highest representative of that institution, while "he has refused to attend to the representatives of the Works Council."
Thus, he has pointed out "the serious breach" of the administration when it comes to paying the social benefits for 2024, which have been established in the agreement of officials and in the current collective agreement, "giving excuses without any basis."
In this sense, the representatives of the workers of the Works Council and the Personnel Board have added that "they lack a place" where they can attend to their colleagues and be able to meet, "having requested a place from the mayor actively and passively, having to meet in the street, public squares and other places, in order to attend to the claims and demands of their colleagues."
From UGT in the Yaiza City Council they have urged the mayor "to convene and legally constitute the General Negotiation Table before March 18", as well as to proceed with the payment of social benefits and make available to the representatives of the union representatives a place so that they can carry out their work in this institution.
The union has pointed out that "once the indicated deadline has passed, without the negotiation table having been constituted by the mayor, we will proceed with the call for protest mobilizations at the doors of the Yaiza City Council until the problems raised are resolved."
Finally, they have reminded Noda of "his obligations of attention and respect" to public employees, "and we publicly urge him to do so, which will undoubtedly be beneficial for the municipality he represents, and to solve the problems and demands of his own public employees, in particular, and of the residents of this municipality, in general."
