The Social Hall of Tinajo became the setting this week for the celebration of a very special date, framed in the San Roque festivities, the 50 years of the Club Deportivo Tinajo.
The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and the Councilor for Sports, Vianney Rodríguez, attended a ceremony that, presented by the journalist Guillermo Uruñuela, made an exhaustive review of half a century of existence of the club in which generations and generations of tinajeros have put their grain of sand.
During the event, an emotional video was shown with the most outstanding moments of the club's fifty years in which Juan Jesús Hernández (Canarian wrestling), Pura Morales and Mimi Ferrer (handball), Miguel Ángel Pérez and Fran Perdomo (soccer), the creator of the anthem, Alexis De León, and, finally, Don Miguel La Antigua, former parish priest of Tinajo, participated.
The club presented well-deserved awards, some of them posthumously, to outstanding people of CD Tinajo: Lorenzo Mesa Umpiérrez, Juan Fernández Parrilla, Juan Morales Cáceres, Carmelo Cubas, Luis Álvarez Callero, José Ricardo Morales Toribio, Jesús Guillen Pérez, Faustino Morales Betancort, Julián Ricardo Morales Rodríguez, Teodoro Fernández Morales, José Ramón Broock Abreut, Orencio Pérez Agustín and Miguel Ángel Tejera Morales. They also awarded Eduardo Bernal Morales, Félix Morales Fernández (both posthumously), Tomás Toribio Hernández, Ángel Eduardo Toribio and Marcial Pérez. They also highlighted José Antonio Morales Cáceres, Eladio Toribio Hernández, Juan Martín Morales, Lanzabloques Tinajo and Club La Santa, to media such as Radio Lanzarote, Minuto Noventa, Lanzarote Deportiva and Lancelot Medios. Also to institutions such as the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Interinsular Football Federation of Las Palmas, the City Council of Tinajo and the Government of the Canary Islands, with special mentions to José Antonio Valido, Gerardo Hernández Cabrera and Alfonso Serrano.
The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, congratulates CD Tinajo for these fifty years of life. A club intensely linked to its municipality, to its people. An institution through which grandparents, parents and grandchildren have passed and, for sure, through which generations of tinajeros will continue to pass, season after season, who will continue to contribute to making CD Tinajo a great club that is much more than football, it is a club full of heart and passion, a fundamental pillar of our identity, of Tinajo. Thanks to all those who have contributed to making CD Tinajo what it is, playing, from the bench, the board or from the stands. I can only wish you the happiest birthday. Half a century of life that, without a doubt, is only the beginning of the road. And we cannot forget that this club has been a prolific quarry that has given important players who have continued their career in teams such as UD Lanzarote or Marítima, but, above all, I want to highlight the figure of Jonathan Pérez Olivero who stood out as a player at island, regional and international level with Madrid, in addition to playing in foreign teams. Congratulations, Club Deportivo Tinajo!”, concludes the mayor, Jesús Machín.
