The Tías City Council will replace the sand on the municipality's beaches that have been affected by the storms and strong marine currents of recent months. To this end, the Department of Beaches will present a project to the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation to request the relevant permits and thus be able to start the sand replacement work on the main beaches of the municipality.
The intention of the Consistory, according to reports, is that, after the winter and once the bad weather has passed, "the beaches of Puerto del Carmen will once again show off their best image for the summer season, when an increase in the number of visitors and bathers is expected".
The head of the area, Nerea Santana, stressed that "the sand replacement work on our beaches is part of the maintenance work and is carried out once the winter months have passed, when the marine currents are more intense and the wind blows harder".
Santana added that "along with the contribution of sand, cleaning work, safety and the improvement and conditioning of the coastline of our municipality, are other of the primary tasks for this municipal government".
