The Tías Town Council approved on Tuesday, October 21st, in a plenary session, the assumption of the economic activity of the service called "Sports activities and physical maintenance in an aquatic environment of the municipal swimming pool of Tías" as an activity of the town council.
The government group proposed, through the Councilor for Classified Activities, Mariana Pérez, "an individualized management of the municipal swimming pool, separating it from other nearby sports areas or establishments, such as the one intended for the cafeteria, which in the past were offered jointly, in service concession contract processes, without result."
Mariana Pérez opted for the independent management of aquatic activities in the pool, separating it from the other elements that will be equally usable by the Administration, through other types of administrative processes.
Regarding the public service activity of the swimming pool, "we are proposing the bidding of service contracts for monitors and lifeguards, assuming in this case the operational risk of the public service, but with all the guarantees of financial sustainability that have been studied and are included in the report of this file, which even show a surplus and without dependence on any other concession," said the councilor.
Furthermore, and in parallel, he added, "we foresee the figure of the state-owned property concession for the management of sports halls or cafeterias, ceding these spaces in exchange for the collection of a monthly fee and transferring the operational risk to the private sector, to the bidder, who will provide a competitive sports offer. As a whole, it is a management characterized by public-private collaboration for the achievement of social interest objectives linked to Sports."
