This Monday, the necessary procedures for the approval of the new General Planning Plan of Tías have been approved "despite the abstention of the Popular Party." After the recent ratification of the government group and the Canarian Coalition, regarding the request to extend the validity of the strategic environmental report in order to advance the processing of the file.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, regrets "the irresponsibility" of the Popular Party and reminds them that "regardless of political affiliation, this document has to move forward and, if we do not approve the procedures, a large part of the documentation may be declared null, which will cost the municipal coffers a lot of money and time." Cruz Saavedra reiterates that "the environmental report of the General Plan dates from 2010 and, based on that report, we have to adhere to all that existing documentation, since the allegations presented are the same that the PP processed for 8 years and in which they did not advance."
After recently explaining to the opposition the details of the General Planning Plan of the municipality, the objective of the second point of the plenary session held this Monday, March 20, has been to approve "the request for an extension of the validity of the strategic environmental report of the General Plan," a request to the "Autonomous Environmental Body of the Government of the Canary Islands," as expressed by the City Council. For this decision, the technical justification prepared for this purpose has been taken into consideration, which proves that "there have been no substantial changes in the essential elements that served as the basis for carrying out its strategic environmental assessment, including the changes that derive from compliance with the conditions imposed in the environmental report."
The new document being processed aims to adapt the current planning to the Canary Islands Land Law, as well as to provide answers to the allegations and suggestions made by residents during the previous stage in which it was subject to public information.
As soon as the Autonomous Environmental Body approves the content of the General Planning Plan of the municipality of Tías, it will proceed to its initial approval and submission to public information.
