The Tías City Council presents to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands the entirety of the "Third Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness of Puerto del Carmen", which will allow both "to encourage the rehabilitation and renovation of accommodation establishments and the complementary offer, as well as to provide the area with public spaces for residents", announces the Tías City Council.
This document, which proposes more than 50 public and private actions in the first tourist town of Lanzarote, has been prepared after "carrying out intense meetings and having the consensus of the economic agents of the municipality and the affected business sector", comments the Consistory.
One of the novel aspects of this Plan is that it "has tried to find a balance from the urban point of view between the private initiative that has presented actions to this plan and those private agents who have not presented any initiative", they make clear. All this, with the objective that "everyone benefits from the ordering of the tourist resources of the municipality", he adds.
On the other hand, a relevant novelty is proposed, which consists of "the totally free acquisition of a plot of land with an area of more than 180,000 square meters as a general public system destined for the implementation of any type of public service", it includes.
"This important plot of land is located in the most strategic point of Puerto del Carmen, specifically between the Rambla Islas Canarias and the intersection of the Puerto del Carmen ring road", they point out.
The planning to create in that area a sports city, any type of public building, a bus station, parking spaces, etc. To all this is added an area that will allow the construction of an Assistance Center for the Elderly with an area of more than 20,000 square meters, the free acquisition of a 500 square meter plot for the future Diving Center of Puerto del Carmen and 3,500 square meters for the new Health Center of Puerto del Carmen, it informs.
"This action has been proposed as an essential element so that all the residents of the municipality can directly benefit from the tourist renovation process of Puerto del Carmen, since a parallel commitment has been made to the tourist renovation and the improvement of public services", they conclude.
