The Cabildo of Lanzarote has initiated the tender process for the contracting of the service of Drafting of the project for the conditioning and improvement of coastal sections in Teguise, framed within the plan for the improvement of the breakwaters in the tourist town. This initiative, integrated into the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan 2023, is entirely financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.
The contract has a base tender budget of 133,013.19 euros (IGIC included) and an execution period of three months from its formalization. The central objective is to define the technical solutions for the reconstruction of breakwaters in the beaches of El Ancla, El Jablillo, and Los Charcos, in addition to carrying out a comprehensive study of the entire Costa Teguise coastline.
“The breakwaters of Costa Teguise show wear associated with erosion and the passage of time. With this tender, we are seeking cutting-edge technical solutions that guarantee the stability of our coastline, always balancing tourist use with the strict protection of our natural environment,” stated the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort.
For her part, the vice-president and head of the Planning and Project Coordination area, emphasized administrative rigor and efficiency in resource acquisition. “The technical complexity of this action has led us to resort to external specialized services to guarantee the maximum technical solvency of the final project. We are using European funds to unlock critical infrastructure that had been waiting for years for global and coherent planning,” explained Tovar.
Quality and Sustainability Criteria
The tender specifications prioritize technical quality and professional experience over the economic offer. In this regard, the reduction of delivery times and the specific experience of the drafting team in coastal engineering and beach regeneration will be valued.
Likewise, the future project must obligatorily integrate the principle of "do no significant harm to the environment" (DNSH), ensuring that the projected infrastructures are resilient to possible future scenarios of sea-level rise and maritime storms.
Interested companies will have all the information on the Public Sector Procurement Platform, in a procedure that is open until 09:00 on May 27.
