The Water Consortium advances in the renovation of the networks in Los Valles

The Lanzarote Water Consortium begins the renovation of the supply network on Mamerto Pérez street, in Los Valles, Teguise, with an action aimed at replacing obsolete pipes and improving the pressure, continuity, and reliability of the drinking water supply in the area. 

The intervention will allow for the renovation of approximately 340 meters of network through two new pipelines, in addition to the affected supply points. The work has an awarded budget of over 80,000 euros, will be carried out by UTE Renovaciones Redes, and has a contractual period of three months. 

The new configuration will improve the hydraulic functioning of this section of the network, control pressure variations, and reduce the impact that possible breakdowns may have on the supply.

The action is part of the progressive and planned renovation of the networks that the Consortium is developing, prioritizing those sections that present greater needs based on available technical information and the accumulated experience of the teams working daily on the infrastructures.

The Minister of Water of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas, specifically highlights the role of these professionals from the Water Service of Lanzarote and La Graciosa: "They know the network inch by inch, they attend to incidents, and they know where problems are repeated. That knowledge, combined with technical information, is fundamental to establish priorities and concentrate efforts where renovation is most necessary."

Cejas points out that the objective is to progressively move from a model conditioned by breakdown repair towards a preventive renovation of infrastructures, which will allow for a more reliable network and reduce incidents.

"Improving the supply does not depend solely on producing more water. Production, distribution, and maintenance must advance together to achieve a real improvement in the service," he concludes.

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, emphasizes that this action allows for the coordination of hydraulic works with the municipal planning foreseen for Los Valles. "For the City Council, it is important that the renovation of the pipelines is carried out before intervening in the street, because it allows us to subsequently carry out the asphalting with guarantees and avoid having to dig up streets that have already been conditioned again," she points out.

Duque also highlights the coordination that has been maintained with the Cabildo and the Water Consortium at different points in the municipality. “We have already worked this way in Tiagua and Soo and now we are doing it in Los Valles. This coordination between administrations allows us to organize actions and make better use of each intervention that is carried out in our towns,” he indicates.
