The Tourist Federation criticizes the "progressive dismantling" of the Lanzarote Submarine Museum

They regret that once again the Cabildo, through the Department of Tourist Centers, acts "without consensus and unilaterally, directly affecting an economic segment of tourism"

The Association of Diving Schools and Centers of Lanzarote, BUCO, integrated in the Tourist Federation of Lanzarote, has criticized the "progressive dismantling of the Atlantic Museum that has been taking place in recent days by the Cabildo of Lanzarote", through the Department of Tourist Centers, directly responsible for the management of the submarine center.

BUCO, which represents 99% of the authorized diving centers on the island, has lamented that "this way of proceeding does not cease, in order not to let an activity that complements the current tourist offer fall", since the work of the British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor represents an underwater experience where you can dive among more than 300 life-size sculptures of great attraction for visitors.

The divers of Lanzarote, who were not consulted or warned of the measure, have indicated that this procedure "is nothing more than the first step to total dismantling", as it is "an abandonment of the sector that dangerously brings us closer and closer to a possible disappearance", they maintain.

"We understand that the set of figures is important in its entirety. They are molds of different characteristics and each and every one of them make up the museum. The removal of a part of them breaks the composition to visit", warn the diving centers and users of the Atlantic Submarine Museum, unique in Europe, and which has become an attraction for the thousands of diving enthusiasts.

From the association they point out that "it is not the first time that the Cabildo, specifically the Department of Tourist Centers, acts without consensus with the sectors affected by its decisions. Recently, the sale of tickets to the centers online and exclusively was unilaterally implemented."

"It is a disproportionate action, which has been taken with malice and has nothing to do with the activity of diving but that directly affects us negatively," they insisted.
