The Teguise City Council announces six new taxi licenses

The Teguise City Council opens the call for the award of six new taxi licenses intended for the provision of passenger transport services in vehicles with between five and nine seats, of which two are for vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The call responds to the increase in the number of taxi licenses agreed upon by the City Council, allowing for the reinforcement of public transport services in the municipality, while also incorporating new vehicles adapted to the needs of users.

The regulations establish as preferential merit the seniority of salaried drivers or self-employed collaborators who have provided taxi services in Teguise continuously and with accreditation. In the event that the applications from these professionals are not sufficient to cover the six licenses, natural persons who meet the requirements established in the regulations through the corresponding tender may opt for the remaining ones.

Among the foreseen conditions is that the applicants must be natural persons, possess the required driving license and the municipal taxi driver's license, be active and up-to-date with their tax and Social Security obligations, among other requirements.

The vehicles must not be older than two years, have a capacity of between five and nine seats, and be equipped with the corresponding taximeter and external module. In the case of the two adapted licenses, they must also comply with the conditions established in the municipal regulations to guarantee their accessibility.

The deadline for submitting applications is open until September 28 and applications can be registered at the General Registry of the Teguise City Council, in the municipal electronic headquarters, or through any of the means provided for in current legislation.

The mayor, Olivia Duque, highlights that the expansion of licenses represents "an important step to continue improving the taxi service and respond to the mobility needs of residents and visitors." In this regard, she points out that the corporation's objective is "to continue working so that Teguise has a sufficient, accessible transport service adapted to the reality of a large municipality with diverse population centers."

For his part, the Councilor for Transport, Javier Díaz, underlines the importance of continuing to advance in the improvement of municipal public services and adds that "the expansion of licenses will achieve an increase in the service's capacity and offer new opportunities to professionals who already carry out their activity in the municipality".

With this call, the Teguise City Council "continues to advance in the expansion and improvement of the taxi service in the municipality, incorporating new licenses and especially reinforcing the availability of adapted vehicles to guarantee more accessible mobility for the entire population".
