The Cabildo of Lanzarote has received this Monday the work of renovation of the lawn of the soccer field of the Lanzarote Sports City, an action that is part of the modernization plan of the island's sports facilities and that is now officially put into operation.
The event was attended by the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort; the vice president and head of Planning and Project Coordination, María Jesús Tovar; and the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, who visited the new playing field and highlighted the impact of this improvement for sports on the island.
"Sport needs dignified, well-maintained and well-planned spaces. This work is a sign that we are continuing to meet the objective we set ourselves at the beginning of the term," said Oswaldo Betancort, who added that the Sports City "is a key facility for the present and future of island sport, which deserved this renovation."
"The improvement of the turf is not just a one-off action, but part of a comprehensive strategy to update our facilities. We are committed to a Lanzarote that promotes sport from the grassroots," said the vice president, who stressed that nearly 1.3 million euros were invested in this intervention through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, celebrated the completion of a work long demanded by clubs and users: "We can proudly say that we are fulfilling the commitment to provide our athletes with dignified and modern conditions. The new turf meets all the guarantees of quality and is the best that currently exists on the market, and the Sports City is once again up to the standard that the Lanzarote sports community deserves."
It should be remembered that this action has also included the preparation of the base, asphalting work and other technical improvements to ensure the durability of the new terrain.
With the completion of this work, the Sports City recovers the operability of its soccer field, in parallel to the works already initiated for the modernization of the athletics track, which will be received in the coming weeks with its corresponding homologation.
