The PSOE of Teguise, through a press release, has taken stock this Friday of the year 2023 that is coming to an end. “Aimless and without leadership with the Government of CC, PP and Vox”, this is how clear and direct the socialist leader, Marcos Bergaz, expresses himself, who sees with "concern the drift" that the Consistory has taken “while other municipalities advance, details Bergaz, Teguise and La Graciosa see the train of lost opportunities pass by”.

In this sense, the socialists from Teguise regret describing 2023 as “a bad year for the municipality in political terms after 365 days without leadership in municipal management: neither with the Government alone of the Canarian Coalition (CC) at the beginning of 2023, nor now with its partners Popular Party (PP) and Vox are facing the great opportunities that Teguise and La Graciosa have”, remarks the PSOE spokesperson, Marcos Bergaz.

The PSOE is the majority force

In a year marked by the celebration of the municipal elections last May where the PSOE was the majority force in Teguise with 2818 popular supports and eight councilors compared to the seven of the Canarian Coalition, which lost 1186 citizen votes, the socialists were "relegated from the mayoralty" by the support for the nationalist formation of the Popular Party and Vox.

So far in the term “everything remains the same in the municipality, in a worrying drift, without any sign of the change demanded by the citizens on 28M being observed in these 180 days of Government”, emphasizes Bergaz.

The feeling of the Socialist Group is that far from taking off “Teguise and La Graciosa continue to miss opportunities and see how the train of future and promised investments passes by; as well as the beautification plan of the towns and payments, which is neither there nor is it expected; such as the renovation of playgrounds, the improvement of gardens, the updating of planning or an imperative modernization of Costa Teguise”.

In Bergaz's opinion, these months have been used “in more of the same: in hiding judicial pronouncements that are detrimental to the municipality that condemn the payment of millionaire amounts; in renouncing employment funds despite the 984 unemployed people in Teguise; in not being able to approve the budgets in a timely manner, or in the most basic, lacking a government program for the next four years”.

Firm and constructive opposition

As the main and majority party of the Corporation, the Socialist Group has continued with its “firm and constructive opposition”. Among its most outstanding actions, Bergaz points out “making the public and public opinion aware of relevant issues for all the people of Teguise and Graciosa, such as the millionaire convictions that undermine resources to improve the municipality, the deficient state of numerous facilities and public spaces or the surprising suppression of the council delegation on the eighth island”.

In addition to the profile of observation and denunciation from the opposition, the team of men and women that make up the Socialist Group has registered dozens of positive initiatives “including constructive motions, appearances, requests and questions that mostly emanated from constant listening to neighbors and groups”.

Finally, the PSOE takes advantage of this balance of 2023 in Teguise and La Graciosa to wish a happy new year and that in 2024 the "positive changes" that the municipality needs arrive: “to this end we will put the best of each of the members of this group who have as maximum to represent the entire citizenry, without distinction”, concludes the socialist leader Marcos Bergaz.
