The Socialist Municipal Group in the Tinajo City Council has presented a motion to the Plenary to demand the immediate recovery of the used oil collection and treatment service, after verifying that the municipality has been without a contract in force for this essential work for more than five years.
According to the spokesperson for the Socialist Group in Tinajo, Begoña Hernández, the absence of an adequate service has caused bottles full of oil to be deposited in different parts of the municipality, especially behind the cemetery, without control or environmental guarantees. "This practice not only damages the image of Tinajo, but also represents a serious risk to the environment," Hernández pointed out.
The socialist councilor pointed out that "Tinajo cannot afford to continue operating without an orderly and responsible system for the collection of used oils. It is unacceptable that in the middle of 2025 we have to resort to leaving bottles behind the cemetery as if it were an improvised landfill."
The PSOE's motion includes three specific proposals: the urgent awarding of a new contract for the collection of used oils, the replacement and expansion of collection points with specific and signposted containers, and the promotion of citizen awareness campaigns on the correct management of this waste.
Hernández pointed out that "it is necessary for the City Council to assume its responsibility and stop looking the other way. The environment and public health cannot wait any longer. Residents deserve responsible and modern waste management, as happens in other municipalities."
The PSOE of Tinajo trusts that "the rest of the political forces will support this motion and collaborate to end an unsustainable situation that calls into question the environmental commitment of the municipality."
