The Socialist Party wanted to be present at the Congress of Workers' Commissions (CCOO) to convey its support for class-based unionism at a time when “it is more necessary than ever to strengthen organizations that defend the rights of workers.”

From the PSOE, they thanked the invitation, conveying their “firm support for the work carried out by CCOO in the defense of labor and social rights.”

“We know the importance of this Congress, a key space to update programmatic proposals and renew leadership in a context in which attempts at regression and demobilization are the order of the day. Unions and left-wing parties are the target of hoaxes and lies, and that is why it is essential to strengthen our structures and strategies to continue firmly defending the working class,” said the PSOE spokesperson in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González.

González stressed that “The Canary Islands are going through a crucial moment. While some intend to turn the entire Archipelago into a tourist resort, the reality is that we have reached record numbers of visitors, 18 million in the Canary Islands and 3.4 in Lanzarote, but our people still can't make ends meet.”

For this reason, González has indicated that “the PSOE of Lanzarote supports the strike called by CCOO in the hospitality sector and we will be alongside the workers in this struggle. You cannot boast of tourist records while those who support the sector see how their workloads increase and lose purchasing power. You cannot talk about success when there is a lack of water in the taps, the health system is collapsing and the island's landfill is overflowing.”

Likewise, she has insisted on the need to “bet on a model that guarantees decent living conditions for our people, that protects our resources and our landscape, and that preserves the well-being of those of us who live here”, convinced that in this collective effort, “CCOO and the PSOE will continue walking together.”

“If in our last Congress we defended the need for More PSOE, today we hope that More class-based unionism, more CCOO, will come out of this Congress,” she concluded.
