The organization secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, has accused the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, of having undertaken a judicial witch hunt against the island secretary of the party, María Dolores Corujo, and has denounced the hiring of "an island director who costs us almost 75,000 euros."

"It is confirmed that the complaint filed by David Monte was a political complaint, which they now intend to reinforce from the Cabildo," Cruz Saavedra indicated. "It was just the first step of a strategy aimed at trying to deactivate our candidate," he continued.

The socialist official explained that the decision of the Island Government Council to authorize Oswaldo Betancort to undertake legal actions, with the abstention of the Popular Party and Armando Santana, makes it clear that it is "a political operation" that responds to the strategy of Coalición Canaria, to try to indict the leader of the PSOE in Lanzarote.

"Oswaldo Betancort is trying to hide the failure of his management with a judicial procedure against our colleague, making partisan use of justice," Cruz concluded.
