The PSOE of Lanzarote has denounced the rejection by the Government of Coalición Canaria and the Popular Party, of key proposals presented by the Socialist Parliamentary Group during the Debate on the State of Canarian Nationality, among them measures aimed at protecting the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote and reviewing the development of the Renewable Acceleration Zones (ZAR).

For the socialists, the result of the debate "evidences a clear distance between the optimistic discourse of the Government and the decisions that are actually adopted in Parliament, where concrete initiatives aimed at strengthening essential public services and guaranteeing responsible land planning have been rejected."

Among the blocked proposals is the initiative aimed at protecting and strengthening the role of the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote, including the reactivation of its geriatric care activity once the necessary reforms in its facilities are completed, a key healthcare resource for the care of the island's elderly.

From the PSOE, they recall that the Insular Hospital has been for decades a fundamental socio-health infrastructure for Lanzarote, which is why they consider "incomprehensible that proposals aimed at guaranteeing its continuity and strengthening its role within the public system of care for the elderly are rejected".

In the same way, the CC and PP pact voted against the socialist proposal to review and order the development of the Renewable Acceleration Zones, with the aim of providing legal certainty, avoiding territorial conflicts and guaranteeing the participation of island councils and city councils in decisions that directly affect the territory.

For the PSOE of Lanzarote, "the energy transition is essential, but it must be carried out with planning, institutional dialogue and respect for the territory, avoiding improvised decisions that generate conflicts and distrust among citizens".

In the face of the rejection of these proposals, the only resolutions approved in the debate were initiatives of a general nature, such as institutional declarations, the impulse to the homogenization of the resident transport pass or the convening of the Social Economy Commission.

“The Nationality Debate should serve to promote real solutions to the problems of the Canary Islands. However, concrete proposals to protect the Insular Hospital and responsibly order the energy development of the islands have been rejected,” they point out from the PSOE.

The PSOE of Lanzarote insists that it will continue "defending in all public political institutions that strengthen public services, protect fundamental health infrastructures for the island and ensure that the energy transition is carried out with planning, legal certainty and respect for the territory".
