The PSOE of Teguise has denounced the "lockdown" that affects the main museums of Teguise for months. The Timple Museum, located in the Spínola Palace, is joined by the Santa Bárbara Castle, which housed the Piracy Museum for years, and which, despite opening before the elections after its rehabilitation, now remains closed as well.

The deputy spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Jenifer Galán, states that "this is a real 'lockdown' on culture and tourism in Teguise, carried out also without informing the thousands of tourists who visit La Villa to enjoy its historical complex and museum spaces."

"Without going any further, we have been able to verify this last week the surprise reactions of different tourists at the entrance to the ascent to the Santa Bárbara Castle, when they see the barrier that prevents climbing it, without information about it," adds Galán.

"The Timple Museum suffers the same fate, located in the heart of the historic center, in the Spínola Palace, it has been closed for months with some rooms in a deplorable state, without being able to be visited," laments the councilor.

According to the socialists, "it is even more incomprehensible when the data we handle speak of two spaces that, in addition to their extraordinary cultural and heritage value, generated with the visits more than 100,000 euros per year, in the case of the Piracy Museum, and about 25,000 euros the Timple Museum."

"This lockdown not only affects the bad image of the municipality, but also affects tourism and culture, in something that we must denounce. We did it with the Canary Coalition government in the previous term, when they closed the museums some month of August; and now, that they have been "closed" for months with the executive of Canary Coalition, Popular Party and Vox."

To conclude, the PSOE announces that "it will ask in the next plenary session about this regrettable situation, as well as urge the Government to get its act together in the reopening of these two museum spaces that must be at the service, enjoyment and visit of tourists and residents," concludes Galán.
