The PSOE denounces that the "waste" in the CACT sinks the productivity of the staff

The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has denounced the "sharp drop" in the productivity bonus for the staff of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, after this Thursday a fund of 163,000 euros corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year was approved, far from the 450,000 euros distributed in 2022.

Socialist councilor Benjamín Perdomo has warned that this reduction "will mean amounts that will be around, on average, 250 euros per worker, when in previous fiscal years the distribution allowed for much higher amounts to be reached, exceeding 1,200 euros per worker in many cases in 2022".

The PSOE recalls that in 2022 the CACT "obtained around 30 million euros in income and closed the fiscal year with about 4.5 million euros in profit, which allowed for approximately 450,000 euros to be allocated to the productivity bonus. In 2023 and 2024, distributions significantly higher than the one now approved were also maintained".

However, the 2025 fiscal year reflects, in the socialists' opinion, "the consequences of a policy marked by increased spending, lack of control, and the deterioration of the public company's profitability".

“The increase in income has not prevented the management of Oswaldo Betancort and Ángel Vázquez from deteriorating the profitability of the CACT,” states Perdomo.

For the PSOE, it is "especially unfair that the consequences of that management end up directly affecting the workers through such a significant reduction in their productivity bonus".

“They have thrown away the staff's effort. It cannot be that those who make the Centers run every day now receive a much lower amount than a few years ago, while the uncontrolled spending ends up reducing the company's results,” denounces Perdomo.

Perdomo emphasizes that "the consequences of the decisions made by the CACT management cannot be placed on the staff, especially when their work has been decisive for the company's good results."

“The workers have delivered, and they have done so with flying colors. If today the CACT obtains good results, it is also thanks to their effort. What is not acceptable is that this effort is recognized less and less while Oswaldo Betancort and Ángel Vázquez squander public money,” he concludes.
