The Socialist Group's advisor in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Benjamín Perdomo, has reproached Oswaldo Betancort, in the Plenary held this Friday, for "delegating to the Chamber of Commerce the elaboration of strategic documents that establish a framework of actions oriented to address the structural reforms that allow to favor and diversify the productive model."

Perdomo explained that the Socialist Group does not question the collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce" and has recognized that the role of the chamber entity "has been vital" for Lanzarote, recalling its "collaboration with the Cabildo in the management of subsidies to Lanzarote companies" during the pandemic.

"One thing is to collaborate with the Chamber in the execution of projects, even in the definition of them, and another is to delegate strategic planning, because the essence of the political direction of any institution is, precisely, to establish the strategies to which the action of government is subjected", Perdomo explained.

For the advisor, this disguised delegation of functions responds to the "complete absence" of Oswaldo Betancort's project, since in these hundred days he has demonstrated "to resort, in a worrying way, to occurrences on all kinds of issues."

"The PSOE considers collaboration with the Chamber more than necessary, essential, but understands that the elaboration of strategic planning must be reserved for the institution", Perdomo concluded.
