The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has requested the appearance of Oswaldo Betancort to explain the situation of the announced appeal after the provisional resolution of the Ministry of Finance that declared inadmissible the Integrated Action Plan, Plan EDIL, framed within the ERDF funds corresponding to the 2021-2027 period.
The socialist spokesperson in the Cabildo, Ariagona González, recalled that it was the Cabildo itself that made public, on October 3, that it would appeal said resolution within ten days, considering that Lanzarote's status as a territory integrated into the regime of Large Cities had not been taken into account.
“More than six months have passed since that announcement and we still know nothing. Oswaldo Betancort said he was going to appeal, but he has not explained whether the appeal was filed, what stage it is at, whether there has been a response, or what scenario the institution is now considering,” González has stated.
The PSOE has pointed out that the island government must clarify what happened with a file that represented an economic injection of up to 20 million euros for Lanzarote.
Likewise, it also requests that Betancort detail which natural or legal persons were hired for the drafting of the project, for the preparation of the necessary documentation to apply for the subsidy or to formalize the appeal, as well as who participated in these works through service provision contracts.
The socialist spokesperson concluded that Oswaldo Betancort must appear and explain “without evasion” what consequences this situation has for Lanzarote after an opportunity for financing of such magnitude for the island was compromised.
