The PSOE condemns the "reincidence" of the mayor of Teguise: "We have reached the embarrassment of seeing how they put a fine on him"

It recalls that "it is not the first time that Justice" warns Oswaldo Betancort "with fines to his patrimony for not complying with the judicial sentences"

The PSOE has condemned the “repeated non-compliance” of the judicial sentences by the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, as a result of the order advanced by La Voz, which imposes the payment of a fine of 500 euros "from his pocket", for "not executing a firm judicial ruling that annuls a license granted by the City Council that he presides" for the extension of a house. In addition, the resolution warns that this fine "will be reiterated on the 1st of each month until the complete execution of the judicial ruling is achieved.”

"It is not the first time that Justice warns the still mayor with fines to his patrimony, for not complying with the judicial sentences, since the socialist group already warned in 2020 of possible fines of 1,000 euros for non-execution of several sentences related to the general plan of Teguise, or more recently, the warnings for not demolishing urban skeletons with demolition orders for years”, emphasizes the socialist spokesman in Teguise, Marcos Bergaz.

“Then we told Oswaldo Betancort and his government to get their act together with the execution of the sentences, which we reiterated when we learned of the warnings for the famous skeletons of Costa Teguise, but even so, we have reached the point of embarrassment of seeing how the mayor is fined for not complying with a sentence of October 5, 2017, confirmed by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands on June 24, 2019, and also not attending to the three personal requirements that Justice has addressed to him to do so”, continues Bergaz.

“In fact, the jurisdictional body itself establishes in its resolution that the amount of the imposed fine, higher than the minimum level set, is justified because the mayor has been personally required on three occasions, with the corresponding warnings, to explain why he does not execute the sentence and the justifications have been unsatisfactory from every point of view", points out the socialist spokesman.

For the PSOE, “we are facing a new sign that Teguise needs a mayor who has his five senses set on the municipality to prevent episodes that put the Institution in a bad place and a mayor more aware of his personal ambitions than of the management of the municipality”.

In addition, the PSOE has made this video about the situation of the "skeletons" in Costa Teguise. "What we have done is eliminate the mark of the corruption of the Canarian Coalition and recover the dignity of a fighting and honest people", assures the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, on her Facebook profile.
