The socialists of Arrecife have revealed that the Arrecife City Council allowed a sanction of 60,000 euros to Urbaser to expire "for a very serious breach".
According to a statement, "the file that was opened against Urbaser by the technicians of the City Council was left to die in the drawers of the Mayor's office, so that it would later expire and thus prevent the company from having to pay the fine. “It is evident that the city's garbage collection is very deficient, and now we know why. Yonathan de León has turned the city council into a permanent fair, where his friendly companies either bill millions or avoid fines,” says Cristina Duque.
"And the city of Arrecife is completely abandoned to its fate, with a very deficient garbage collection service, and with a mayor of the city who has become the No. 1 ally of the Urbaser company, which does what it wants in the city," adds councilor Cristina Duque. In addition, the councilor states that “Yonathan de León must understand that those who pay his salary are the residents of Arrecife and not Urbaser, and that he is in the mayor's office so that the city improves, not so that the company directors are his buddies,”
Finally, the PSOE of Arrecife warns the mayor that it "will continue to monitor public contracts, so it demands efficiency, and less cronyism from the PP". “The mayor has to understand that his position is one of maximum responsibility, and that life is not fixed with a fair and a photo”, clarifies Cristina Duque.
