The PSOE of Arrecife has issued a press release following the announcement by the City Council of the capital of the closure of the San Ginés fair due to "some technical problems". The socialists have pointed out that on Tuesday afternoon "we witnessed a shameful and humiliating event for some historical patron saint festivities, such as those of San Ginés", and added that "seeing the local police sealing off the different stalls in the Ginori grounds was an event that will go down in history to the shame of this city”, commented the socialist councillor Cristina Duque.

The events occurred when the Local Police found that the site did not have the relevant permits, due to the lack of necessary authorisation from the City Council. At that moment, the security agents "were forced to evict the site and close the stalls and attractions that were in the Ginori grounds". For the opposition party, "this incident is nothing more than clear proof of the current mayor's inability to manage, who has demonstrated his contempt for legality and security on the part of his government".

Duque has pointed out that the fair "has ended in a disappointment for the residents", as well as in "a hard blow for the fairground operators and organisers, who were confident in the good development of the event". She added that "they could not even imagine how this mayor obsessed with the festivities and who despises the minimum administrative procedure acts.

“The mess by the government team has ended in a closure that not only affects the image of the city, but also harms the citizens who were hoping to enjoy these festive days”, said Cristina Duque, councillor of the Socialist Group in the Arrecife City Council.

“From the PSOE we have been warning about how this gentleman acts and the saddest thing is that this scandal has not surprised us, because the way the mayor acts is that of a true reckless person. As we have denounced on repeated occasions”, Duque insisted.

The socialists of Arrecife have also asked themselves: "What has been the situation of these fairground operators in the previous days, where the City Council has allowed the opening of a venue in secret?". To conclude, the councillor has demanded "immediate explanations" from the mayor and a rectification of his management so that this type of situation does not happen again in the future”.
