The PSOE of Arrecife has accused Yonathan De León of "lack of transparency and opacity in management" after the government group "rejected a motion" presented by the Socialist Group in which they requested that "all political groups be informed of judicial rulings in which the City Council is a party", within "fifteen days" of their notification.
The councilor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Alfredo Mendoza, has expressed his "concern" about the blocking of information regarding knowledge of rulings about which they have requested information and have been "denied" it.
"When we have requested information, we have been told that it is in legal proceedings and we know that they have concluded. What we are asking for is only the minimum exercise of transparency that a government group should do, because they are also obliged to do so. We request that the documentation be delivered to us within a reasonable time, after it has been assessed by the legal services and before the rulings become final," Mendoza said.
"It is unacceptable and a bad sign the naturalness with which the mayor denies an essential obligation of any government. We want to remind Yonathan De León of the importance of transparency and the exercise of an open government and its direct relationship with the legitimacy of the government's decisions and policies. By preventing access to information for opposition groups, access to it is being prevented for citizens," Mendoza concludes.
