The Popular Party has valued as "very positive" the step taken by the Cabildo of Lanzarote in relation to the declaration of the camel livestock of Lanzarote as Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) of immaterial character, considering that "it is the fair recognition of the figure of the camel, an animal linked for centuries to agricultural tasks and the configuration of our unique landscape." Remember that last Tuesday the Plenary of the Island Council approved the file to make the declaration effective.
For the vice president of the Cabildo and general secretary of the PP, Jacobo Medina, the initiation of the file "also implies support and enhancement of the camel sector that has been developing a professional activity in the Montañas del Fuego for decades, from which many families of the municipality of Yaiza live."
"Thanks to the work carried out by its caretakers, Lanzarote has been able to maintain the presence of this native breed and, more importantly, the values of the camel culture currently linked to tourist activity," highlights Medina, who also wanted to recognize the "support that the Popular Party of Yaiza and the councilors Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez have always offered to the camel herders", supporting their "demands and recognizing the evolution and all the improvements" that they have been introducing in order to comply with the regulations and guarantee the welfare of animals.
