Pending the Cabildo and Parliament on May 13, the Popular Party concluded this Saturday the calendar for the presentation of candidacies to the different municipalities of the island, announcing the members of the electoral list, which is led by Juan Monzón, to the Yaiza City Council.

In a completely full hall, Juan Monzón wanted to highlight in the first term the growth that the Popular Party of Yaiza has experienced in recent years, of which he acknowledged feeling "proud of the great popular family" that has been formed in the south. "They are the fuel and the engine of our party and together, with the effort and work of all, we are going to make Yaiza a better, more prosperous and inclusive municipality," he said while announcing the men and women who accompany him in his candidacy and who will be part of the next municipal government.

"We are stronger than ever and, unlike others, we are going with our heads held high for a job well done," Monzón said in reference to the fact that the PP has been these four years "at the foot of the canyon" alongside the residents. "We have been their voice in the plenary sessions, we have taken care of their needs, we have worked to solve their problems, and always with a helping hand, as I believe things should be done, being serious and honest, as it should be."

The candidate stressed that the PP does not waste time in entanglements and political squabbles, "we are about working, which is what we have done all our lives, and doing it even more from May 28 for the residents and the municipality from the municipal government."

Juan Monzón took advantage of his speech to highlight the four main lines of his government program that is aimed at resolving, among other issues, the serious problems that exist in terms of housing, security, cleanliness and legal uncertainty due to the annulment of the General Plan.

Thus, he stressed that the construction of public housing that the regional executive must do will be a priority of his government, to alleviate the housing emergency in the south; contributing from the city council with the creation of a municipal office to support rent and anti-occupation. Improving security will be another important commitment, contemplating not only the increase in staff but also the creation of a tourist police unit and the reinforcement of the Civil Protection corps.

Monzón's commitment to the citizens includes the resolution of a new garbage collection and cleaning of roads and public spaces contract, which the UPY government has not resolved in four years, and the preparation of a new General Plan that provides legal security and allows investments, "since it is the only way to create employment and wealth in our municipality," the candidate stressed.

For his part, the candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Jacobo Medina, directed his speech towards the projects developed in the southern municipality in his stage as Councilor of Public Works, highlighting the investment of 11.6 million euros in two years, through the different financing plans.

The Playa Blanca football field, the repair and asphalt of streets in Uga and La Degollada, the picnic area and the roundabout of Uga or the resurfacing of the old Yaiza-Playa Blanca road, among others.

Finally, the president of the PP of Lanzarote and candidate for Parliament for the island constituency, Astrid Pérez, expressed her satisfaction for the great team that Monzón has formed for his candidacy, pointing out that they are people "trained, willing and full of energy, enthusiasm and desire to work for the municipality." "Juan Monzon and his entire team are the revulsive that Yaiza needs to avoid stagnation and address the many shortcomings that continue to persist. I have no doubt that Monzón is the mayor that is needed and that he will be a magnificent mayor for Yaiza."

The candidate for Parliament also stressed that in Lanzarote and La Graciosa there are signs of change in the face of the "negligence" and "abandonment" to which the Torres Executive has subjected both islands with a management that has turned its back on the real needs. "After four years of disastrous management, the Popular Party, with Manolo Domínguez at the head, is the alternative for the Canary Islands," defended Astrid Pérez.
