The Popular Party denounces the "terrible image" that has been repeated again this weekend in the municipality of Yaiza due to the Government's insistence on maintaining a completely “deficient and overwhelmed” garbage collection service because it is "unable to put it out to tender again."
For the municipal spokesperson for the PP, Juan Monzón, this situation that has been dragging on for years is “unsustainable and completely shameful both for residents, businesses and establishments, who religiously pay their taxes, and for tourists who come to Playa Blanca and what they do not expect to find is this third world image”.
“What is unacceptable is that a first-rate tourist municipality like Yaiza, with relevant commercial and economic activity, has a collection service without resources and with four trucks that spend more time broken than in operation”, denounces Juan Monzón, who considers it “regrettable that after two terms, Óscar Noda has not found a solution and seems resigned to the fact that things have to work this way. And that's enough. People are fed up”.
The Populars ask themselves “what else has to happen for the municipal government to react and urgently undertake the procedures to tender the garbage collection service again with specifications and conditions in accordance with the current reality of the municipality”. “While that does not happen, we can only reiterate that the mayor is the maximum and sole responsible for turning our municipality into a dump”, he concludes.
Complaints from residents of Playa Blanca
The residents of Playa Blanca also complain about the garbage accumulated in the town. This Monday they have communicated to La Voz their complaint about the waste that is piling up without being collected. "It is a disgrace that the garbage is not removed for 4 days", they make clear.
