The Popular Party of Yaiza has expressed its concern about what it considers "not only an attack on the natural environment but also an aggression against the image of excellence that a first-class tourist town, such as Playa Blanca, must offer." Thus, it has denounced the growing proliferation of rubble dumping points in several parts of Playa Blanca, one of them even in an area very close to the Clean Point facility.
For the Populars, this problem requires an urgent intervention by the City Council. "On the one hand, we believe that the municipal government, in an exceptional way, should launch an action plan to remove the materials, mainly construction materials, from these plots while adopting greater control and surveillance measures in these areas," says the president and spokesperson for the PP and president of the Local Committee, Juan Monzón.
The PP councilor highlights "the need to eradicate these hotspots in order to prevent materials from continuing to be deposited indiscriminately and the problem from becoming much greater." "In some cases, it will be necessary to urge the owners to fence and in others to act forcefully through the sanctions already included in the municipal ordinances," explains Monzón, for whom "the only option that is not possible is for the government of Óscar Noda to look the other way and stand idly by in the face of this regrettable situation."
In this line, they consider that "the city council should study all possible options to end this problem, which can range from video surveillance to the placement of informative posters warning of the economic sanctions they face."
"What the residents expect and demand is a firm commitment from the City Council to the maintenance of our environment and our landscape and a supervisory and sanctioning management with the unscrupulous who violate the regulations," say the PP.
