The Popular Party of Tías has been very critical of the loss of a significant sum of money earmarked to promote employment and training in the municipality. According to the councilor and local president, Francisco Aparicio, the corporation headed by the socialist José Juan Cruz "will have to return more than 350,000 euros to the Government of the Canary Islands, corresponding to the Programs of Training in Alternation with Employment (PFAE)".
For Francisco Aparicio, this return represents "a serious setback in active employment policies, especially at a time when so many residents need real opportunities to train and access the labor market."
The money now lost was intended for three training initiatives aimed at unemployed people, which would have combined technical training with paid work in public utility services, he says. "We are not just talking about figures," he explains, "but about jobs that have not been created, young people who have not been trained, and social projects that have been left in the drawer because the government team has not wanted to take advantage of the opportunity that these programs represent."
The Popular Party criticizes that, "despite the warnings and recommendations made by the Canarian Employment Service to adapt to the new requirements imposed by the State Government, the local government group was unable to anticipate or find viable solutions, which leads to the direct loss of public funds.”
"What happened is the result of a clear lack of planning and diligence on the part of the socialist government team," say sources from the Popular Party. "We demand transparency, clear explanations, and above all, concrete measures to prevent this type of situation from happening again. Citizens cannot continue to pay for the mistakes of poor management," they conclude.
