A photocopy with the image of King Felipe VI currently presides over the Plenary Session of the Arrecife City Council. The PP has demanded in the extraordinary plenary session this Thursday that an image of the King be placed, warning that the Plenary could be "suspended" if it was not done, and finally a photocopy that this formation had has ended up being placed.

The PP spokesman in this Consistory, Joel Delgado, explained to La Voz that "Decree 2568/1986 in its article 85.2 establishes that the effigy of the King has to preside over each and every one of the plenary sessions." "I have been forced to defend that the City Council had to have the effigy of the Head of State, because there was none," said Delgado, who wanted to make it clear that he is of "republican tendency."

And it is that the image of Juan Carlos I had already been removed and that of Felipe VI had not yet been placed. The deadline to make the change of photographs expired on July 19, according to the PP. "As in other city councils there has been the precedent that the sessions have been declared suspended for not being presided over by the King's photo, we have told the mayor to do everything possible to put up a picture of the King," Delgado indicated.

"Mockery towards the Head of State"

His "surprise" has been when, after his request, he noticed "the mockery towards the Head of State" by "councilors from the PSOE and some from CC, such as the mayor himself", Manolo Fajardo Feo. "Whether I like the King more or less, I have to respect him," defended the PP councilor.

Faced with this situation, Delgado asked "if the holding of the Plenary without the image of Felipe VI was legal." "The secretary has not answered us because the mayor has not given him the floor, but he has consulted him directly. The answer has been that the popular group was right and the image had to be placed," said Delgado.

The PP had a photocopy of the King's photograph, so they provided it to the mayor. Finally, it was the concierge who placed this photocopy. "If not, the Plenary could have been declared suspended and there were important issues," insisted the PP spokesman in this Consistory.
