The Popular Party candidates for Congress and the Senate, Francisco Cabrera and Joel Delgado, respectively, have pointed out the need for Lanzarote and La Graciosa to have a Maritime Service of the Civil Guard (SEMAR), better known as the Civil Guard of the Sea "in the face of the continuous trickle of boats with irregular immigrants".

For the Popular candidates, "this service is becoming increasingly important if we take into account that, according to sources from the Ministry of the Interior itself, more than 1,300 immigrants have arrived on our coasts since Sánchez came to the presidency of the Government, largely due to the call effect caused by the actions of the Executive".

"One only has to remember the case of the Aquarius, the concertinas and certain false health announcements to realize that the socialist philosophy disguised as good intentions only encourages the mafias and helps to favor irregular immigration, seriously endangering thousands of human lives," both candidates emphasize. .

In this regard, Francisco Cabrera points out that Lanzarote will always be a space for solidarity, as it has already demonstrated, "but it is no less true that without help and without the necessary means we will not be able to be faster, more agile to save lives and prevent our ocean from becoming an authentic cemetery, and there the Civil Guard of the Sea based in Lanzarote is fundamental".

"When we had the responsibility of being in the general courts, we presented initiatives aimed at improving and repairing 10 of the 12 SIVE radars that do not work, to increase the number of troops of the State Security Forces and Corps with the maritime base and to improve the budget allocated to the Canary Islands for the care of unaccompanied immigrant minors, but the response of the socialist government was nil," says the candidate for the Senate, Joel Delgado.

"What's more -Delgado emphasizes- Sánchez did not even have the decency to meet with the presidents of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo to address this issue in his two visits to Lanzarote, nor did the socialist senator for Lanzarote, Manuel Fajardo, or the deputy Ariagona González, who have not presented a single initiative in this regard, or in any other, in their six months in the Courts."

For the Popular candidates, "we are still in time to correct this course, contribute to saving lives and reducing the arrival of boats to the Islands with real and effective immigration policies that can only come from the hand of the Popular Party because it has already demonstrated it".
