The Popular Party of Tías has denounced "the negligence of the municipal government when it comes to tendering the new lighting maintenance contract" and has assured that "it is affecting not only the correct functioning of the service but also the workers of the concessionaire company who have not been paid for two months."
According to the populars, the operators in charge of public lighting maintenance "have not received their salaries since last August, the date on which the contract with the City Council ended. Both the labor problem and the problems with the lighting could have been avoided if the government of José Juan Cruz had prepared the specifications in advance to start the new tender as soon as possible and prevent the service from being uncovered for so long,” said the councilor and president of the Local Committee, Francisco Aparicio, who stressed that, “as of today, it is not even on the contracting portal.”
This situation "is leaving some towns and streets in absolute darkness, so transiting through certain public roads generates insecurity among residents and visitors." Meanwhile, Aparicio stressed that the problems with the maintenance company "has plunged the municipality into a real energy crisis with total blackouts in some towns and intermittent cuts in some streets."
The Popular Party has reiterated to the government team "speed to launch the service tender as soon as possible and also urges them to protect the workers of the current company in charge of lighting, guaranteeing that any company that assumes the service has the current staff."
